Your Initial Exam
The purpose of your first visit is to meet with Dr. Berrios to evaluate and discuss your treatment needs. Digital photographs of your face and teeth will be taken. Dr. Berrios will review your medical and dental history and perform a clinical exam.
This important visit will address the orthodontic needs of you or your child and is free of charge. If treatment is indicated, Dr. Berrios will discuss the treatment plan with you and work together with your general dentist to provide you with the highest level of oral health.
The purpose of the initial exam is to answer:
- What sort of problem is present, if any?
- When is the proper time for treatment?
- What type of treatment is indicated, if any?
- How long will treatment take?
- How much will the treatment cost?
Diagnostic Records
If treatment is indicated, diagnostic records will be taken prior to the beginning of orthodontic treatment. The diagnostic records provide Dr. Berrios with information that is not available from the initial clinical exam. He will be able to study the case in more detail. Records include study models or impressions, radiographs of the side of the head and a panoramic view of the jaws and teeth. Proper diagnosis is critical to the success of the case and will also be helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
