Overall, the Invisalign® process is relatively simple. Trays are custom-fitted to your teeth and every few weeks, these trays are switched out for the next set, similar to having your braces tightened. Your teeth gradually shift to accommodate these new aligners. Your orthodontist will develop a specific plan of treatment that best serves your changing mouth.
Most patients report that the Invisalign® aligners have given them little to no discomfort. While wearing the aligners, you can eat and talk without hindrance. If you play an instrument with a mouthpiece, you may need to remove the trays to avoid breaking them or hindering your ability to play.
Invisalign® is may not be the best option for patients who experience pain in their jaw. This usually signifies a deeper bite problem that would be better served by a more intensive orthodontic procedure. Invisalign® is also not recommended for patients whose top and bottom teeth will not line up vertically without the intervention of bands and braces.
